Candidates Wanted!
If you are a community leader, or just someone who cares about East
Hollywood, consider running for the Neighborhood Council! Its a great way
to get to make a difference in your community!
Anyone 16 years or older who:
Lives
Works
Owns property
Attends school
Is a member of a faith-based organization (church, synagogue, temple,
ministry group); or
Is a staff or board member of a community-based organization serving the
EHNCs boundaries
...is a stakeholder of the East Hollywood Neighborhood Council. With a
document to verify your stakeholder status, you can run for election to
the Governing Board.
What
Board Seats Can I Run For?
There will be 18 seats in the EHNC Governing Board. Eleven seats represent
each of our neighborhood districts (NDs), one seat representing an at-large seat for the entire neighborhood council boundary area and six seats represent at-large
stakeholder categories. Anyone who holds EHNC
stakeholder status in any of the NDs can run to represent that particular
ND. You
might be qualified to run for more than one seat, but you can only choose
one seat when you file as a candidate.

The other six seats will
be represented by at-large stakeholder categories. Similarly, you might
qualify for more than one stakeholder category, but you must choose one seat in which to
run for.

Tenant Representative
Any stakeholder who rents housing and lives in the EHNC boundary area. |

14. |
Property Owner Representative
Any stakeholder who owns residential or commercial real estate
property in the EHNC
boundary area. |

15. |
Business Representative
Any stakeholder who owns or is an employee of a business in the EHNC
boundary area. |
|
16. |
Student Representative
Any stakeholder who attends school in the EHNC boundary area. |
|
17. |
Community Services Representative
Any stakeholder who is an affirmed member of a faith-based
organization in the EHNC
Boundary Area or is a staff or board
member of a community-based, 501(c)3 non-profit
organization that
provides services within the EHNC Boundary Area. |

18. |
Youth Representative
A
youth member age 16-18 representing any stakeholder category; if under
age 18
cannot vote on budgetary actions; must be under 18 at time of
nomination and may
continue their term past their 18th
birthday but must forfeit their seat before their
19th
birthday. |
How Do I Run? What Will Happen?
• Complete and submit
the Candidate Filing Packet with the Office of the Los Angeles City Clerk by Tuesday, January 19, 2010.
• Attend the upcoming Candidate Information Workshop (TBA) for more information
• Attend our upcoming EHNC meetings on December 21, January 25, February 22 and March 15
• Encourage others in East Hollywood to come out and vote on March 20
