Kaiser's Executive Director Speaks, EHNC Board Votes on 'Artcycle' Event, Selects New Officers

Did you miss our last meeting? Here's a recap of what went on!

The November 17 meeting of the East Hollywood Neighborhood Council featured Mark Costa, the executive director of Kaiser Permanente Medical Center Los Angeles, a major part of our community for 55 years. Costa said the new wing of the hospital on Sunset Blvd is scheduled to open March 31, 2009. Most of the current hospital departments will move to the new building, and the existing buildings will be demolished and replaced with new buildings at a later date.

Juday Branfman from the California Clean Money Campaign also talked about the importance of campaign finance reform and how other cities in the country are implementing a new way to fund local political races.

Later, during the EHNC Governing Board meeting, the group also voted to allocate up to $2500 for its upcoming Artcycle event on February 28 and selected its new Governing Board officers for this year.

The new EHNC officers are:

President: David Bell
Vice President: Elson Trinidad
Treasurer: Jennifer Moran
Corresponding Treasurer: Gary Slossberg
Recording Secretary: Joe Gietl
Corresponding Secretary: Kimberlee Furgess

Congratulations and best of luck to the new EHNC officers!
