EHNC's Next Meeting, September 15!
Homeless Issue This Month's Topic
Hollywood Youth and Family Center The next monthly meeting of the East Hollywood Neighborhood Council will be on Monday, September 15, 7:00 p.m. at the Hollywood Youth and Family Center, 607 N. Vermont Avenue (pictured).

Homelessness is a big issue in the Hollywood area as well as in Los Angeles County as a whole, which has a population of about 70,000 living on the streets. What can be done? What can we do? Anne English from People Assisting The Homeless (PATH) will share with us what they've been doing, and how our community can get involved.

We will also have a reports from Alejandra Marroquin from Council President Eric Garcetti's CD13 office, as well as our LAPD Senior Lead Officers, plus a meeting of the EHNC's Governing Board, where important decisions regarding our neighborhood will be made. Community stakeholders will also have the chance to make announcements on upcoming events or voice their opinions on important issues in the neighborhood.

The EHNC meets on the third Monday of each month. Effective this month, the meetings wil convene at a different location every two months. The EHNC's October 20 meeting will also take place at the Hollywood Youth and Family Center, while the November-December meetings will be at another location.

Visit our EHNC Monthly Meeting Website to download the agenda and for more information on the meeting.

'Parking Day LA' Calls Attention To Need For Open Space
On Friday, September 19, East Hollywood's newest park will open...and then close.

On that day, nearly 30 other temporary parks around the city will be installed on street parking spaces or other public locations to call attention for the need for more parks and open space as part of Parking Day LA.

The EHNC will host a "park" on Heliotrope Drive at Melrose Avenue (Hel-Mel) which will feature entertainment, art, a BBQ, games and a swimming pool.  The "park," known as the East Hollywood Recreation Center, will encompass four parking spaces and will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Last year, the East Hollywood Neighborhood Council became the first-ever neighborhood council to adopt Parking Day LA and opened temporary parks near LA City College and in Thai Town.
